WELCOME

Dear Parishioners of Sacred Heart and Holy Rosary,

It is my honor and privilege to serve the Monsignor Bornemann Council of the Knights of Columbus #16066 as Grand Knight as it begins its 10th year.

The Knights of Columbus is one of the best and most rewarding ways for a Catholic man to serve his parish and community. By joining in fraternity with our fellow Knights, we have accomplished far greater good than any of us could individually.

Some of our programs include:
– the RSVP program, proving financial support for seminarians in our diocese
– the Roses and Rosaries program, a council presence at parish baptisms offering flowers and rosaries to parents
volunteer work to maintain our churches and to assist parishioners in need
– support for NorthStar Women’s Center (Lifeline of Berks County)
– support for the Sacred Heart School through fundraising activities and volunteering
– our annual “Coats for Kids” drive which has clothed hundreds of local children
– organization and support for devotional events in our parishes
– serving local veterans with food and companionship with the Veterans Making a Difference center
– support to our local food kitchens like Kennedy House through volunteer outings and financial/food assistance

It’s thanks to the generosity of parishioners like you that our council has been able to give so much back. It is your donations that have made such a difference. We sincerely thank you for your selflessness and your prayers.

If you are a Catholic man, age 18 or older, and are interested in building your faith, serving your parish, and joining in Christian fraternity with like-minded men, I ask you to prayerfully consider joining us in our work. Along with Past Grand Knights Dean Reber, Gerald Blaum, Frank Urso, John Sylvester, and all our members, I foresee even greater things for our council as we work to live our faith through our principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity.

For nearly 150 years, the Knights of Columbus has been a storied beacon of Catholic faith and brotherhood in America, as well as a pillar of parish lay life. My grandfather served as Grand Knight for his council but, perhaps like you, I myself had never put much thought into joining this organization. A membership drive in our parish finally led me to consider how it could help me emulate Christ in my life. In the years since, the Knights of Columbus has offered me an enormously rewarding opportunity far beyond my own expectations. I hope that it might offer you the same.

Vivat Jesus!
Blake Molinaro, Grand Knight
